It’s really much easier to sell your items through an online site like the Craigslist. The advantage of using Craigslist is that they have a local listing so it’s easy for you to find buyers which are just near or around your area. Compared with eBay posting ad is much easier and all ads are for free. EBay is an online site which caters sellers to be able to show their items to the world. Both eBay and Craigslist are the biggest online ads website. You will earn more without exerting much effort compare to doing a garage sale.
But there’s a few drawback in using Craigslist. Since its free it’s easy for fake or Flake to find legitimate sellers and buyers to victimize. Flakes are people which post as an interested buyer and will ask the seller a lot of questions and will ask to save the item for them. And turned out they won’t see the seller nor buy the item they reserved.

Girls rule! That’s their slogan on Lillyslist.com, a new online classifieds site that is said to dominate against Craigslist and another popular online classifieds site Backpage. Lillyslist is a US based website and is specifically only for the U.S. market. Their listings are somewhat similar to Craigslist where you can find it straight from their main page and you can search further through their extended listings which is something that Craigslist doesn’t have.
Their free classifieds have prices in the U.S. that are very competitive compared to Craigslist, they said and is perfect for practically everyone in the U.S. who are in need of marketing their products or are in search of items. Other parts of the site include personals where you can also find love. Wonder if they have a way to control it and prevent future crimes.
The Lillyslist.com wants to be a one stop shop for the U.S. market as there are other international classifieds elsewhere so they primarily focused on the U.S. Let’s all just wait and see if this new site will become a great competitor for Craigslist or it will hit the swamp as other similar sites have.
Bill Caswell is now gaining great popularity for news he let out when he won 3rd place in a World Rally Championship race with a very cheap car that he only bought for $500 from Craigslist. This guy is amazing, no real funds yet a lot of free time and a welder plus credit cards made him a 3rd placer in a competition for renowned racing pros. His $500 1991 BMW 318i beats other rally cars that are over $400,000 worth.
It really makes you think that a racer is really born and not made. This guy proved that even a D.I.Y car can beat the most expensive racing cars as long as the racer has the heart and dedication for the sport.
The rivalry between eBay and Craigslist had been in the news for over a couple of years now. First, eBay acquired shares on Craigslist then a year later launched Kijiji, a classified site very similar to Craigslist. In 2007 they launched Kijiji in the US and filed suits against Craigslist about pushing them out of shares but Craigslist filed a case against eBay with their hostile intention of taking over.
Craigslist was more on the passive side while eBay continues to push further and even changed Kijiji to eBayclassifieds.com with a mobile application. They wanted to out beat Craigslist with their “better” online classified ads site with their new ability of taking pictures and creating listings instantly through their mobile application. With the name change and better mobile application, they expected and hoped to beat Craigslist but statistics for unique visitors show otherwise. Craigslist continues to be on the 45-55M range of unique visitors while eBayclassifieds.com on the 0-1 million range. If eBay wants to beat Craigslist they really have to think of better ways to raise the competition, perhaps by reviving their good name first.
A $750 worth stroller was stolen from the front porch of Lindsay Taylor. After he noticed the stroller was stolen, this internet-savvy parent immediately checked for ads on Craigslist.
Lo’ and behold, he found an ad for a double red Phil & Ted’s stroller which is the same as the stroller stolen from them. The ad was posted around 3 in the morning just 2 hours after he heard something outside. He contacted the seller through email but the seller won’t give out his name and his number’s blocked. The seller became a bit suspicious when Taylor asked for the color of the stroller but eventually they met up on Sunday at a parking lot. Taylor brought a friend along. Then, a car pulled up and popped his trunk but stayed in the car while a woman went out and talked to Taylor. When he confirmed that the stroller was his, his friend took photos right away and Taylor started yelling at the thief couple. The police then took over when he reported the incident.
It turns out several cases were also filed for stolen Phil & Ted’s stroller so the Taylor’s are not the first victims.
Someone who calls himself Rick Obelophy posted an ad on Craigslist selling his supposed-to-be 4 year old son named Gavin for $5,000. The ad was immediately removed but a Spokane woman who spotted the ad and called the authorities was able to save a copy of the text but was not able to save the photo of the little boy.
The ad may just be a hoax or a cry for help but it could be something even more. The investigators have seized records from the site Craigslist to get more information about the ad and the person who posted it. Investigators haven’t found any record for a man named Rick Obelophy. It is a Class C felony for anyone to sell or buy a child in Washington and once proven, you can be punished for 5 years in jail and fined $10,000.
