Jake Kulju is a freelancer outdoor writer who, one day, decided to browse through ads on Craigslist and there he saw an ad for a job that he had always dreamt of. The Avalon Travel was in search of an outdoor writer to create a hiking guide for Twin Cities for guidebooks of Moon line. Upon reading the ad, he started to put together his proposal for the job.
Jake Kulju said he actually never wrote a book before but he had experiences for outdoor writing in the past that was also published. He can’t imagine how his proposal stood out from all the rest as he imagines the number of people that may have also responded to the same ad.
Kulju was not given much time to finalize his work. In fact, he only got 4 months to make his plan, to start traveling and hiking and to write the said book which includes 90 hikes from a list of 300 hikes. He spent 6 weeks for hiking and the rest of the time to write and do research..
Kulju had learned so much from his experiencing and is out again to do another book. He is so delighted and thankful about the country where he lives in as it truly values the wild and the peaceful outdoors as well as the importance of an environment that is away from the urban life.
