Two teens were placed in custody while other suspects are still at large. They are connected to the armed robbery where victims have been lured through a Craigslist ad. A couple ages 20 and 21 had been lured to the South Side street when they responded to an ad on Craigslist that offer several iPhones for just $4,000. They agreed to meet up with the seller on South Ashland Ave.
Upon arriving, their car were approached by several men with handguns pointing at them and demands for money. They were not satisfied and they beat up the guy while stealing the lady’s purse and some cash.
The police investigated and found out that another ad for CTA card was also posted on Craigslist with the same contact info as the ad for iPhones. The undercover police transacted with the 17 year old seller and arrested him and charged for 2 counts of robbery with firearms.
Polic investigators advise shoppers on the popular site, Craigslist, that they should insist on meeting with buyers or sellers on a public place and they should bring company to be safer. Make sure you let friends or family know where you are going and who you’ll be meeting as well.
