Cat found its way home

Last November 15, the cat Giggle-Blizzard had disappeared from his loving home in Spring Hill. After 11 days, on Thanksgiving Day, Tracie Steger heard a very faint meow at the front porch of her house. When her niece opened their door, there he was, with two legs forward and used his back legs to make baby steps which made it very obvious that the cat was injured.

Giggle Blizzard got home but unfortunately, he got two broken legs. The owner, Tracie Steger, have 13 pets including Giggle-Blizzard. The day she disappeared, she was frantic and walked the neighborhood together with her dog. She even posted posters as well as sent an online message via Craigslist asking for help with the lost cat. After 10 days of her search, she received bad news from her neighbor. The neighbor said that she saw Giggle-Blizzard getting hit by a car on Saturday about a mile away from home. But still, Steger never gave up on her beloved cat and kept on looking.

When they saw the cat at the door, she had mixed emotions. And, although it costs her over $3,000 for Giggle-Blizzard’s medical expense, she said that it was well worth it. She also posted another message on Craigslist to inspire all the animal lovers out there with missing pets. She wrote a message saying that they shouldn’t give up as they never gave up and their cat was finally home.

It’s the holiday season once again- watch out for scams

Watch out for scams over the internet especially on this holiday season. A church from Austin, Texas is way familiar with the types of scams from the Craigslist site. It had been over 6 months now that they have heard of somebody sending out some fake checks that appear as checks from their church. The checks are for amounts that are much higher than what the item is said to be worth. That way the seller would have to send back to the extra amount to the buyer by cash. Unfortunately they will eventually find out that the check was actually fake and so they got scammed of real money.

It is quite unfortunate that churches like the church in Austin are being attacked by this fraudulent activity said one of the accountants of the church. 40/29 had taken the checks to a bank to see if it will pass and the bank employee said the ink quality of the said checks concerned her. The paper does not even have security features. If a fake check has been issued, the person who wishes to withdraw the money will be held responsible for the money by the bank once the check has been proven to be fake.

Raising money for child’s funeral

It’s really sad to learn about an unfortunate baby who died tragically. This is what happened to a cute little baby named Morgan Vandusen. She was the center of attention in the life of her parents and two siblings. She was a cute little baby girl who simply loves being the center of attention and making people happy.

Morgan’s mom can’t help but recall the charm of her little baby girl even at the darkest time of their life. Unfortunately, that cute and bubbly baby girl was found dead on her crib and have died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or SIDS.

Morgan and her family lived in a mobile home and in our financial crisis right now, her family is also suffering. Not a good time for such a tragic loss and unexpected costs but Morgan’s parents had to raise $1,500 for the baby’s funeral. They posted it on Craigslist and hopes for some donation from people who could read the ad.

Morgan’s mom, Charlotte, said that at this difficult and painful time of their life, she had to remain strong for her two kids a 5 year old and a 3 year old.

You can help the family out by donating for the cute baby’s funeral on this link “http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/wan/1512158244.html” but unfortunately the link had been flagged for removal so just in case the link would be back again, you could donate to them through that link.

NotifyWire.com

If you find yourself hunting and pecking through Craigslist, scouring multiple locations, and checking again every fifteen minutes, you tend to get frustrated. That’s what happened to Ian Drake, an IT consultant and web entrepreneur who travels all over New England, so he decided to do something about it.

About four years ago I started a NotifyWire.com to alert people via email and SMS when out of stock items like the Xbox360, PS3, and Wii where in stock at online retailers” Ian started to explain. “After the fever for these products died down, I wasn’t sure what to do with NotifyWire until I started frequenting Craigslist and realized the same type of problem existed.”

That’s when he decided to re-launch NotifyWire.com as service to monitor Craigslist for people just like him. Now in its third version, the software has grown from just a monitoring service to a complete toolset for discriminating Craigslist buyers.

Currently, Ian is on the hunt for a vintage surfboard and shared a screenshot to show how simple NotifyWire is to create searches with multiple locations and categories.

Currently, Ian is on the hunt for a vintage surfboard and shared a screenshot to show how simple NotifyWire is to create searches with multiple locations and categories.

There were three things I hated about Craigslist“, Ian continued, “the inefficiency of searching and re-searching multiple locations and categories, being the second person to respond to an ad, and scammers and spammers“.

NotifyWire solved the first two problems by using a unique peer 2 peer technology for monitoring Craigslist. Unlike other Craigslist monitoring software, NotifyWire’s p2p software doesn’t require the user’s computer to be running, which is great for laptop users.
When your computer is off, NotifyWire uses other connected computers to run your search. The peer 2 peer aspect of NotifyWire allows us to monitor more of Craigslist at a higher frequency than anyone else.” In fact, Ian says the seller is often shocked at how fast he responds to their ad.

Another feature Ian really likes is the ability to view search results as image thumbnails.

Another feature Ian really likes is the ability to view search results as image thumbnails.

A new feature in version 3.0 to combat scammers and spammers is the ability to reply to ads using NotifyWire as an intermediary. This not only hides your email address from spammers, but it allows NotifyWire to geo-locate the seller based on their IP address.

When a seller replies to your message on NotifyWire.com, we forward the message with the city, state, country, and ISP the seller used to connect to the Internet.” This feature makes it easy to spot foreign scammers a mile away.

You can download NotifyWire at http://www.notifywire.com/download/. The free version is limited to searching five locations at once and you can only save one search, however there is no time limit to the trial. A pro version can be purchased for 29.95/yr which allows you to search and monitor up to 500 locations and save up to 50 searches.

Jim Buckmaster testified against eBay

Last Friday the CEO for Craigslist, Jim Buckmaster, had testified against eBay and how they do business. In his statement, he said that he would not have agreed to be in business with eBay if he knew then what he already know now about how they do business.

He added as he was questioned by Michael Clyde, the counsel, he said that as their relationship with eBay continually grows sour, he kept on remembering the assurances he received from the ex eBay CEO Meg Whitman back in 2004 where eBay got a 28 percent stake on Craigslist amounting to $32 million. But then, eBay launched the site Kijiji, which is a direct competition for Craigslist, Mr. Buckmaster then starts to question the trustworthiness of Whitman.

His testimony focused on the exchange of emails between the two CEOs. He said that it doesn’t feel right that coming from one of the large shareholders, they would launch a competitive site. Buckmaster also added that he is no longer comfortable with doing business together with eBay as their shareholder.

Buckmaster will testify again on Monday but he said that Whitman is slamming her door on them with promises she can’t keep.

Looking for the best Christmas Gift? Here it is!

reindeerSomeone got a brilliant idea for this Christmas season. Yes, someone thought of selling the ultimate gift this Christmas and posted it on Craigslist. What is this ultimate Christmas gift, you might ask? It’s no other than a baby reindeer! Yes, you read that right! Someone is selling a baby reindeer on Craigslist for an amazing price of $7,000! Probably Rudolph and Donner got too frisky and bored that it seems like out of nowhere, the baby reindeer was born!

Here’s the entire Craigslist ad. “I have for sale a Reindeer Calf. He is brown with buttons (no antlers yet, should have them grown in by mid-March). Rudolph is the stud and Donner is the mare. He is un-altered and would be great for breeding more reindeer because he is just so cute!! He is CKC registered and will only go to a loving home who will keep him indoors, where he belongs. I am asking $7,000. And that’s a steal for a reindeer. Hurry up, this deal won’t last long!!!

Now, to those who may be curious and dumbfounded, this is obviously a joke. Who would want to keep a baby reindeer indoors? And for the price of $7,000, you could buy a lot of reindeers already. Anyway, this Craigslist post is very unique and perfect for the Christmas season, don’t you think?

Christmas is a time for giving and gifts – try bartering on Craigslist

A lot of people are having financial problems lately but it should not stop us from celebrating Christmas and continuing our tradition of gift giving. We may not have money but for sure we have some stuff hanging around our house that we don’t need. Gina and Richard Lavelle came up with an idea so they could give presents to their for children this Christmas. They turned to Craigslist together with dozens of people like them bartering their goods or services for some gift items for the Christmas season.

Bartering is a good idea as you get good stuff and even new ones through bartering. Lots of Americans are experiencing what this couple is facing too. They’ve lost their jobs and are trying to make ends meet and with the help of Craigslist, they are offering their services for money. They are offering their services for just about anything. She would baby sit; split would or even clean the house. Her husband is a mechanic so he could fix cars too. So far, they are getting some responses to their ad already and getting some cash for it. It’s not as good as getting a job but it will surely be enough for this family to survive the crisis and their kids would still have their Christmas gifts this season.

Stolen Bicycle recovered thanks to Craigslist

A man from Honolulu was wise enough to use the website Craigslist to recover his stolen bicycle with a bit of help from the Honolulu police. The man had noticed from the Craigslist website an ad where a photograph of the bicycle being sold looks remarkably like the bicycle that was stolen from him. He reported it to the police and he arranged a meeting with the seller.

The owner of the bicycle went with police officers to the meeting place where the owner and seller would meet near the Kapiolani Boulevard intersection with McCully Street. There they met the 31 year old man who posted the ad on Craigslist.

The owner of the bike had positively identified the bicycle and another bicycle that was brought by the seller is determined to be a stolen bicycle as well. The seller was then arrested for suspicion with 2 counts of detaining stolen property.

Battle between eBay and Craigslist continues in court

The lawsuit that was filed by eBay Inc vs. Craigslist is now heading to the Delaware State courtroom and there will be a trial that would reveal the inner issues where eBay’s Meg Whitman and Craigslists’ Craig Newmark would be brought to the witness stand for their testimonies.

This trial had been delayed twice already. EBay and Craigslist are two giants of the internet industry. Ebay had pioneered the online auctions and generations over $8.5 billion in 2008 and has thousands of employees while Craigslist is a privately owned company with just a few employees and offers mostly free service for people who wants to buy and sell stuff using their online classifieds site.

Ebay’s April of last year’s law suit claims that Newmark and Jim Buckmaster had a “coercive plan” back in 2007 that decreased the percentage stake of eBay from 28.4 percent to 24.85% which falls below the 25% mark making them lose their seat on the board of Craigslist. The judge in the Delaware Chancery Court had dismissed two charges from eBay but five more counts are still in process including this case.

On the other hand, a month after eBay filed a case, Craigslist filed a separate lawsuit claiming that eBay have deceptive practices such as false advertising as well as trademark infringement. Craigslist claimed that eBay used their seat on their board to get information and launch their own website that is a competing site similar to Craigslist yet denying that it was eBay’s intention.
