Craigslist Crooks Beware!

The CEO for Craigslist has a message for all those crooks out there that uses Craigslist to do their schemes. You’ll get caught!

Craigslist is linked to several violent crimes especially in Minnesota and Boston but Jim Buckmaster, the CEO for Craigslist said that it is very unsafe for criminals to post on Craigslist because you are guaranteeing to yourself that you will get caught!

Every serious crimes that connects to the site have proven this and Buckmaster said that by posting on Craigslist, you are leaving an electronic trail and you will eventually get caught.

Several crimes had been committed and thankfully, the criminals are now paying the price. Some say that Craigslist is getting more and more criminal cases but come to think of it, it served over 50 million people each month and there is just a very small percentage (almost zero) where criminal cases are involved. It is not zero but it’s really low compared to the billions of interactions that are positive using the site.

Val Kilmer impersonator needed

On Craigslist you can post any type of ad you want and here you’ll find some of the wackiest and strangest ads there is. Take for instance this ad (http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/tfr/1114998141.html) The poster is looking for a Val Kilmer Impersonator who will pretend to be Kilmer in a party. You should be slightly “out-of-shape” if you want to apply for this job and should live in NorthEast Heights.

It may seem like a weird ad but it’s quite common in Craigslist. After all, you can post anything at any time in this online classified ads site and therefore you can post for any type of jobs that you may need. Of course make sure it is nothing illegal or else you’d still be held liable for it and not Craigslist.

Lost pets – Look on Craigslist

If you were one of those people who had suffered from the tornado last Good Friday in Nashville then maybe you could still find your lost dog at this address “http://nashville.craigslist.org/laf/”. It’s a site for lost and found and there are several dogs that have been listed there hat were lost due to the tornado.

It is sad to see a pet without a home and it’s doubly as hard to have lost a pet. In cases like this, you don’t know if he is still alive or not but it’s such a great euphoric feeling you will get if your dog is actually still alive and waiting for you to find him

On the list includes a beagle and basset mix, a labradoodle, a spaniel and a lab mix.

Haunted Car on Craigslist?

There is an ad posted on Craigslist about a 1992 Honda Accord in Los Angeles. The owner reportedly spend thousands of dollars to have the car fixed but after all of his spending, the car is still haunted.

The poster said that the car is possessed of some kind of demon or entity. It makes strange sounds as if there is somebody talking and the speakers emit some type of sound even if it is not even hooked to anything. Also, when you get inside the car you would have this strange feeling that you just want to get out as fast as you can and there is a cold spot on the rear seats that is just plain weird. Maybe a sign that an entity or a demon is sitting there.

The owner is asking for just $6,500 for the car or even half that. He just wants to get rid of this devil car as it attempted to kill him several times in the past.

Now, who cares to make a purchase?

Have an old PC lying around? Sell it on Craigslist

If you have a second-hand PC just lying around and gathering dust, you may want to sell it for extra dollars. For sure there are buyers out there who would want to buy your second-hand, outdated PC because they are a little short to buy a new one. You can post your ad on Craigslist but before you sell your old PC, here are just 4 things you need to do first:

  • Run a virus scan – there may be viruses on your PC or some malwares and adwares. Make sure you get rid of all of these first before you let the buyer use it.
  • Transfer Data - for sure you wouldn’t want the new owner to still have the copy of your data on your PC. Transfer all your data to your new PC.
  • Clean the drives – some necessary data may be kept on your hard drives without your knowing. You may have inputted your credit card number on the internet and may have saved some of your passwords so you better delete everything in the drives for your own safety.
  • Speed it up – outdated PCs usually would run slow on recent operating systems such as the Windows Vista so better use Vista Services Optimizer or StartUpLite to speed up the startup.

When you do these then you are ready to sell your PC on Craigslist and sell it for a decent price.

Feds fight scams – Now playing

People get victimized for housing scams and other types of scams where they trust a representative or a company that they just read about from ads on sites such as Craigslist. They depend on them without making any background check and later on they realize that they shouldn’t have trusted them at all. But, it is too late and they suffer the consequence.

Starting this 9th of April, there will be a public service announcement on theaters around the United States most especially on states where there are more foreclosures. It is a 30-second announcement that gives warning to people as well as advice on how to fight such scams that abuse people’s misery.

The ad’s message is actually quite simple. If you are having problem with foreclosures and you need help, go to their website and read their 5 tips for avoiding the foreclosure scams.

Craigslist post for Movie Quotes

Someone posted an ad on Craigslist in search of movie quotes. The ad says “We just finished a film and need to buy a one sentence quote from someone who calls himself a film critic. Thanks.”

That’s the entire ad post and it’s located in Los Angeles. The poster did not even say that they want to buy a movie quote from a real film critic but from anyone who “calls himself” a film critic so that could practically be anyone.

Anyone can just say that they love to watch films but in fact, they just need some money and this ad is just one of the many ads where people could abuse it just to get a few extra dollars. In fact, there is no need for this ad as there are many who would do this for free as long as their name gets posted on newspapers and such.

Get an SMS Alert for Craigslist

Now you can keep yourself updated even when you’re not always in front of your PC. Yes, now you can get an SMS alert from Pingie. It will send you a text message whenever there is a new item that shows up on Craigslist with your search results.

It’s like this. If you search for Craigslist with the term “shoes” and you use Pingie then every time there is a new item for “shoes” then you will get a text message that tells you about the new item.

It’s a great idea but it’s not for everyone as it can get irritating to some to constantly get a text message about the new items on Craigslist but of course, it’s great for those who are serious about being the first to learn about the new posts.
