Short ‘gigs’ from Craigslist can earn you some cash

At the time that the world is experiencing the recession’s effect, many who have lost their jobs are earning some money by having short-term gigs like a work that lasts only a day or for just a few hours.

Many go online to look for gigs like this and in Craigslist there is the Craigslist’s Gigs Section where people could check out what available short-term jobs they could find. This way they could earn a few extra dollars than just sitting at home and earning nothing because they had lost their jobs.

It’s a great way to pay for those monthly expenses and you could experience different types of jobs even for a short period of time. Many have done it and there are still a lot of these types of short-term jobs posted on the Gigs section of Craigslist as well as on some other sites.

Auction on Craigslist? Here’s how!

In Craigslist you can buy and sell stuff but it’s not like eBay where people could auction for the item. On the good side though is that Craigslist ads are free while in eBay you still need to pay for it.

Keith Teare has come up of a way to use Craigslist with a Google Docs spreadsheet so it could take bids for the item. What he did is he made hyperlinks on his ad directing the interested bidder to click on the link where he will be directed to his Google Docs Spreadsheet that is read only. Here the bidder can see what the highest bid is and what time the bidder made the bid.

At the bottom of his ad he made a form where the bidder could type in the required information such as the name, the amount of bid and the email address. This will then be directed to the spreadsheet but viewers can only see it and not edit it as it’s read-only.

That’s it! Now you can take in bids for your Craigslist ads.

Craigslist killed the newspaper business?

Shirky, a site by Clay Shirky states that Craigslist killed the newspaper classified ads but this is a common assumption that does not hold true. Craigslist did not kill the newspaper classified ads but the newspaper classified ads are most definitely doomed.

Why? Because paying customers already moved on from paying high amounts of money to get their ads posted on the daily newspaper as compared to the fees paid for ads posted on online classifieds. Craigslist is just one of the many ad sites but it does not cater to a focused market. Other sites such as Monster.com, Cars.com and Realtor.com do and they get more listings and these sites are paid advertising unlike with Craigslist where posters don’t pay a dime.

Newspapers just simply failed to evolve and you can’t point your finger to Craigslist as newspapers allowed these classifieds to be taken away from them since the launch of web browsing.

Man arrested for selling Paris Hilton’s cell phone on Craigslist

An undercover police answered an ad on Craigslist from a seller who said he is selling a cell phone of Paris Hilton. The undercover police offered to buy the cell phone for $5,000 and met up with Marc Marrouche, a hotel manager. Instead of getting $5,000 out of the lost phone, he got arrested. This information was reported by the New York Post.

The phone was found by his ex girlfriend from Marquee way back in 2005. They figured they could sell it and get a lot of money from the real owner’s popularity but doing so makes them criminals as it’s a criminal offense. Marc Marrouche is facing a year of jail sentence as he was charged with the criminal possession of a stolen property.

Gumpert Apollo-the only one in the U.S. is for sale in Craigslist!

Gumpert Apollo is probably the most expensive car to be for sale over at Craigslist. How much does it cost? It’s better to contact the seller straight from his Craigslist ad (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ctd/1062788477.html) but the price is definitely what you probably can’t afford unless of course you’re living in full luxury.

Gumpert Apollo

Gumpert Apollo

The car is orange and is very stylish. It can go from 0 to 60 in just 3 seconds! It’s the only one in the United States because Roland Gumpert, the maker of Gumpert Apollo imported it here all the way from Germany where he manufactures cars for his car company Gumpert Motors. The company is now working with the U.S. company so they could legalize the Apollo car in all the 50 states in the country.

So, if ever you’d see this car on the U.S. streets, you already know where the buyer bought it from. Nothing less than from Craigslist and take note, it’s the only one in the United States for now.

Paying to find a job?

With the world economy going to a sudden rockslide, thousands of people have lost their jobs. You can’t blame the company for suddenly firing you because they are all experiencing the pain of our economy and hundreds of companies are now going bankrupt. What’s a father to do in this crisis? With no money coming in and day to day expenses are piling, it’s no wonder why some people go frantic over the situation and think of different means to get away from being jobless.

Take for instance, Jimmy Cybulski. He placed an ad on Craigslist looking for a job but it’s not any ordinary jobseeker’s ad on Craigslist. He is in fact willing to pay $500 to anybody who could find him a job. $500 is not much considering how any job right now could practically save him thousands of dollars of daily expenses for month’s ahead. Now, don’t you just think things are turning for the worse? People are getting more and more desperate!

A man tracked stolen tires with the help of Craigslist

James Weiss, a man from Portland , Oregon has used Craigslist to help him find his stolen car tires. He received a call from the Werkstatt Auto Shop detailing him about his new wheels being stolen overnight. He saved up to buy those new wheels and they were worth around $2,000.

James Weiss knew it was a long shot to find the perpetrator by posting an online ad but this didn’t stop him from posting an ad on Craigslist. He later received a tip from an anonymous person telling him that he/she knows who stole his wheels and gave him the thief’s address.

James Weiss stalked the house of the thief first to confirm and when he saw a car pulling up with his wheels and tires, he called the police. The thief turned out to be a 17 year old kid who then confessed of his crimes.

Craigslist is indeed a great way to find answers to your needs and this is just one proof of that.

Checking for apartments on Craigslist is Easy!

When you need to look for an apartment by browsing Craigslist ads, what you need to look for is really the location and its price. The price is usually posted together with the ad but the location can be somewhat confusing especially if you are not from the area. Now, Craigslist utilizes PadMapper maps where you can easily find Craigslist apartment listings on the Google Maps so you can quickly find the apartment’s location and other information.

Before PadMapper, there was MapsKrieg that does the same thing but PadMapper is not only giving you their locations but you can actually do some filtering on your search so you can find apartments based on the price, number of bathrooms or bedrooms, locations and if pets are allowed.

On Google Maps, each apartment is tagged with a pushpin. When you click on these pushpins you will find more details such as photos, address and price for the apartments. It makes apartment searching a lot more easy and fun.
